Rubrics to Score Modeling Essays

Possible Scoring rubric #1 for essay questions:

6- Expertly applies what is asked of them, using both experimental examples and theoretical examples with ease.

5-Answer is specific, using examples from the field work, not generalized terms. Uses technical terms correctly, understands implications, clearly describes progressions, can also move to theoretical explanation clearly.

4- Clearly understands terms, but cannot apply the example from experiment adequately, does not fully show mechanisms.

3- Is vague and only theoretical. Cannot apply a specific example, doesn’t show clear understanding of terminology, may misapply terms somewhat.

2- Respondent says, “I don’t know” a lot. Doesn’t give examples from the research project, Seriously misapplies terms.

1- Doesn’t get it at all.
